When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.

well, we had to work with the clients demands (the directors of the play), and it had to represent the play and story in some fashion.
as to actual guidelines...had to be 11"x17", vert or horizontal poster, needed to have the dates of the play and the ticket number info. Play name, etc.
That about covers the guidelines, other than that, anything goes!

Though Rick did end up asking me to give him a .pdf of it on CD so he could ad it to his archive plus he kept a copy of it that I printed. So that ended up being pretty respectable.
